Bought this "Camp Oven Fire Pot" thru eBay and picked up from Redbank Plains, Brisbane. A retired man is making them as a sideline, cost me $25 but I believe he is looking for $35 for any more.
So used it for the first time tonight to cook dinner, Beef Strog - AND took some pics !!
I used the Cocochef brikettes (Bunnings) which tend to burn hotter and longer than Heatbeads. In fact they were still going so well after the Strog that I wipped up a rice pudding which is still on the go.
I found this device quite flexible. With the oven on the two rods with the red handles, there was not enough heat to cook the meat, so removed the rods and found that the Furphy lugs located on the rim dropping the oven down to just over the fire, later it got too hot so reversed this, then it was sticking and still too hot so I put the oven on the mesh to finish which was just perfect.
If anybody wants the contact details for the maker, just ask.
So to the pics......................KD

KD,
Looks like an ex 9kg gas cylinder with the top cut off, another cut to give you the base, and a couple of lugs welded on the side with holes drilled?
